Breaking: SD governor signs abortion ban into law
Not unexpected, but still terrible news:
Gov. Mike Rounds on Monday signed legislation banning almost all abortions in South Dakota. The Legislature passed the ban late last month, focusing nationwide interest on the state as the governor decided what to do about the measure.
The law, designed to raise a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion, is scheduled to take effect July 1.
Nancy Keenan said that "Governor Rounds' signing of this bill should spur all Americans to let their governors know that they oppose egregious actions that threaten a woman's reproductive freedom. This law is a monumental setback for women in South Dakota and across the country." Keenan also pointed out 11 other states are pushing similar bans.
Take action now: send your governor a message.
Also, here’s the contact info for Gov. Rounds if you feel like giving him a piece of your mind:

Does it not seem strange to anyone out there that a majority of the states wanting to ban abortion are states that would be considered "bible belt" states?

The people in South Dakota trying to push this law on the state are all about religion and control.
They clearly hate women. You can see by this comment by one of the anti abortion advocates from an op ed in the Rapid City Journal.
"Women want to have the right to have unlimited sex with men they don't like or don't want to have babies with. Freedom is redefined as license to do whatever one wants with their body. If we take that premise to its conclusion, we would have to legalize prostitution, suicide and illegal drug use."
Their morality crusade has spun out of control. They have been at this for years. They stacked the legislature with like minded people and shoved this bill past the vote of the people. The majority of the state senate voted to put this to a vote of the people. The writers of the bill found a way to reject that vote, overrode the vote to let the people vote on it so they could get the gov. to sign this. Not only have we as state citzens lost our constitutional right to force things to a vote we many end up with this crazy law on our books. These are the same people that tried to ban sex ed from our schools in favor of an abstinence only that told people you could only have sex in marriage.
What is truely scary is that these religious nuts have been at this for years and have put themselves in positions of power and this is making it all the harder to fight what is going on . This has nothing to do with "unborn babies" and everything to do with transferred guilt and hate for women by religious nuts in our state.
PLEASE help us. There are plenty of people who want to fight this but we need legal and financial help to fight this. Planned parenthood is starting a legal filing and it is rumored that one of the state senators is going to attempt to get a petition going and back in the next 90 days to force this to a public vote.

I agree with SDstuck completely! What kind of PIGS do they have in office there. That's right, PIGS! Anyone who would expect a woman to carry a rape or incest fetus to term is nothing but a piece of shit.
And to those religious crack pots, let's see how you would feel if you found out your daughter was carrying her uncle's baby or get's raped and impregnated! We need to let Rounds know how we feel and HUNT (The swine who introduced the Bill). Even the Missisippi house put in an exception clause for Rape and incest. If you ask me, all the women of SD should leave and let their men fend for themselves in the SEX department. If you want to send Hunt a message go to
