A message from Amber and Jen
We're still recovering from Election Day, but it's a good tired. Thanks so much everyone who has shared their stories so far, but we want more. We only ask you to do what we're willing to do ourselves, so here's how we spent yesterday:
Amber was in Pennsylvania getting out the vote for pro-choice candidates in the Philly suburbs. Jen stayed in DC to hold down the fort, but she's from Philly, so she was there in spirit.

Highlights from Amber
I woke up at 5:00 am and departed for the America Votes location where we helped train and orient volunteers to go door to door and encourage folks to vote pro-choice. We hit the road to go door to door ourselves at 8 a.m. and came back around 7 p.m. to a room full of phone bankers making last minute turn out calls. We tallied all the houses we had hit that day in our van alone, over 400! Together we listened to early stories about elections returns. After the last volunteers returned, we hit the road to come back to DC and listened as more and more good news came in over the radio. It was a long but wonderful day that ended with the great news about the big victory in South Dakota and a good night’s sleep in my own bed!
Highlights from Jen
I stayed at the office forever. See, Amber's story is better. Actually, I spent the evening with my coworkers monitoring races with pro-choice candidates. But, before election night I joined local volunteers to make calls to NARAL Pro-Choice America members, reminding them to vote pro-choice. I'm not sure why Amber took this artsy photo, but I like it. Sorry about the messy desk.
Anyway, this is a great day for pro-choice Americans. Those 20 new pro-choice Representatives have you to thank.
Now it's your turn…

All I can say ladies is: THANK YOU!!! I am elated yet exhausted, as I couldn't sleep last night; I couldn't tear myself away from the election coverage...the fact that you were at the forefront of this fight, pounding the pavement, making the calls and doing a good bit of the nailbiting, up until the wee hours of the morning :-), is enough to inspire me to step up even more. I'm thrilled that we were able to stop the clock and the madness of the Bush Administration, from stealing away so much of what should be our innate right to choose!!!! WHOOOO-HOOOOO! Ladies, WE ROCK!!!!!!

Hooooray for women's choice victories!
How about coming to NH and working some more of your magic. We now have Democratic Senate and House majorities. Maybe there can be some overturning of draconian measures that have been enacted in the past. Remember the Supreme Court hearings on abortion that came out of NH legislation?
Thank You for your hard work.

Remember when Whathisname said "Whatever happens in South Dakota, will happen in the rest of the country?" For once, he was correct! :-) THANK YOU AMERICA..... THANK YOU! Wow....

I am so happy about this election. I grew up before choice and before much in the way of birth control. I could relate some horror stories, my own included. People, to protect what you got you can't take it for granted. It is a fight everyday. In fact on a sad note women have actually lost ground since the 60's and 70's in the area of pay equality. Fight the good fight, if like me you are past child bearing age fight for your sisters, your children, your grandchildren. I believe that in the US today only one group, Native Americans, have a harder fight for their piece of the American Dream, than women do.

Congratulations to all, but don't let down. There is a cadrie out there who believe that their religion trumps everyone elses. Their motto, to paraphrase JFK, is "ask not, what your religion can do for you, ask what it can do for everyone".
We all, especially women, must stand up for their own freedom of religion, or we will yet lose it.

I signed up for a text message alert from Planned Parenthood and I waited up watching election coverage. Boy was I relieved when I got the message saying it was struck down....though my ringtone scared the bejesus out of my because I forgot I set it so loud.
This is definately good news but we're not out of the woods yet.

Whooo Hoooo!
Finally the main stream of America has had enough. The past 6 dark years are over!
I am still flying high over yesterday.
What we must do is to hold the new representatives to a high degree of integrity, so that when 08 comes around, we are not faced with the scandals that brought the heap of Republican cards down to ruin. They must form over-site committees that keep tabs on every one. They must address the conditions of EVERYONE, so no fodder is provided for Republicans to seize on in 08. We have won the battle, let's make shure we don't lose the war

I was so happy to relieved to see the news on South Dakotah. More than any other issue, candidate - this one vote was so important. Thank you to all pro-choice South Dakotah residents who took the time to vote and make such a powerful statement that is being heard across the country.
